Advanced Energy is currently seeking a Senior Engineer, RF Switch and Design working with world class engineer team at our headquarters in Ft. Collins, CO.  This role will be responsible for performing applied research, design, development, testing, and documentation of products or systems. Works closely with customers to understand equipment/system requirements and to ensure that the product(s) work in the application(s). Provides direction and mentors engineers and engineering technicians. Internal and external contacts often pertain to company plans and objectives.



  • Experience with switch-mode power conversion topologies, such as buck, boost, PFC, half bridge, full bridge, etc.
  • Working frequencies of 100kHz to 2 MHz
  • Power levels of 1kW to 60kW
  • Design experience with leading edge power delivery components for the next generation plasma processing, such as:
    • IGBT
    • MOSFET
    • SiC
    • GaN
  • Control loop experience and knowledge:
    • Stability
    • Gain and phase margin
    • Circuit design and finite element analysis software
    • Linear and non-linear network analysis
  • Team player with a strong sense of urgency to meet product requirements schedule
  • Excellent Oral and written communication skills



  • At least 5 - 10 years’ relevant experience designing switch-mode power conversion products with increasing responsibility.
  • Successful design of products brought to market on time, on budget, and generating substantial revenue.


Highly desired:

  • 2 years of RF/microwave EM analysis/simulation experience
  • Emphasis on RF circuit and/or microwave theory
  • Knowledge of CMOS devices
  • Knowledge of IC fabrication and how impact to circuit performance
  • Familiarity with RF IC layout techniques and tape out process
  • Strength in documentation clarity and completeness
  • Ability to clearly assess and manage risk
  • Team player with a strong sense of urgency to meet product requirements on schedule
  • Hands on use of RF measurement equipment to validate performance
  • Experience with: Cadence, Ansoft EM Tools (HFSS, Q3D), Sonnet, EMX, Agilent ADS and Momentum




  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering


  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering



  • This position is located our Ft. Collins, Co office.
  • Travel required, approximately 5% (both domestic and international).
