Staff Accountant

Description/Job Summary

The Staff Accountant will support the day to day accounting functions of the firm by performing a wide variety of tasks including but not limited to Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, reconciliations, and various financial reports.  This role requires strong organization skills and a great attention to detail and accuracy.  This full-time position reports to the Accounting Manager and is based in our Philadelphia, PA office.

Responsibilities/Duties

General Responsibilities and Expectations
  • Full cycle Accounts Receivable, including preparing invoices, maintaining client records, reviewing aging reports, and perform collection activities as needed
  • All Accounts Payables functions including entering invoices, obtaining approvals, preparing checks and maintaining vendor records
  • Monthly bank reconciliations for multiple bank accounts
  • Process bank deposits, post payments to client accounts, and prepare daily cash report
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts and prepare associated schedules
  • Maintain fixed asset and depreciation schedules
  • Work closely with Accounting Manager on month end closing process and preparation of monthly financial statements and reports
  • Prepare monthly job costing report
  • Assist with annual independent audit as needed
  • Assist with compiling information for annual taxes as needed
  • Take on additional tasks or projects as needed related to firm’s accounting & finance functions

Required Qualifications

Education and Work Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • Minimum four years’ experience in an accounting role

Skills

  • Proficiency in QuickBooks preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently to complete tasks accurately in a timely manner
  • Strong organizational skills and detail oriented
  • Ability to work well with all levels of internal management and staff, as well as outside clients and vendors
  • The ability to work effectively independently or in teams
  • Personable and even tempered; capable of handling a high stress environment
